HALTWHISTLE’S 10th bi-annual walking festival starts tomorrow.
This milestone event involves nine days of varied walks organised by Haltwhistle Partnership and run with the help of over 25 volunteer walk leaders.
The walks vary from moderate to strenuous walks along Hadrian’s Wall.
Featherstone Castle and Lambley Viaduct are featured in one walk, and another takes in Garrigill and the source of the Tyne.
Lancercost Priory, three castles and Isaac’s Big Walk are also in the line-up as are themed walks – a fungi walk around Moralee Tarn with expert Gordon Beakes and Dr Ridley’s Historical Walk around Haltwhistle.
There is also a folk evening at Haltwhistle’s Comrades Club tomorrow at 7.30pm and a Haltwhistle Burn slide show in the same venue on Thursday, October 18.
Full details are available at www.haltwhistle.org or by calling the partnership office on (01434) 321242.
The festival is being supported by the Northumberland National Park Authority.
Organisers are hoping for weather as good as during March’s ninth event.
