TRADITIONAL craft techniques will be used alongside inspiration from the landscape at a masterclass in Ninebanks on Sunday.
The event is being run in conjunction with the North Pennines AONB Partnership and the rocks, fossils and minerals of the local landscape will serve as inspiration.
Geodiversity officer for the AONB, Elizabeth Pickett, said: “This fun event will be a great opportunity to have a go at traditional crafts while finding out more about the area’s fantastic geology and landscape.
“Ninebanks Youth Hostel is surrounded by wonderful landscapes and geology, and we’ll have examples of local rocks, minerals and fossils to use as inspiration.”
Local textile artist Caroline Mann will be instructing participants in the art of hooky and proggy to create mats, wall hangings or cards.
Caroline, who is part of Lapwing Creative Crafts, which provides arts and crafts workshops in a variety of rural locations.
The day long workshop on Sunday is being held at the Ninebanks Youth Hostel between 10am and 4pm. For information and to book a place, call (01388) 528801.
