WEEKEND ROUND-UP ... Derby final after semi surprises

RIVALS Wallington and Ponteland United will do battle for a place in the league cup final after they caused cup upsets on Saturday.

The Northern Alliance Division One sides both eliminated high flying opponents from the Premier Division, one goal enough for Wallington against Carlisle City and Ponteland getting past Blyth Town with a 3-2 win in extra time.
Haltwhistle Cons are flying the flag for the Hexham and District Sunday League, an excellent 6-1 victory at Blyth Comrades booking their place in the semi-finals of the Northumberland Sunday Cup.
There were defeats for both local rugby representatives in the Durham and Northumberland leagues, Ponteland losing 20-8 against Stockton in Division One and Prudhoe & Stocksfield going down 24-10 to Ashington in the second division.
Tynedale Hockey Club maintained their 100 per cent record as a hat-trick from Sean Cunnigham spearheaded success over Gateshead.
