Weekend football preview

TYNEDALE duo Stocksfield and Ponteland United hope to meet each other in the prestigious Northumberland FA Senior Benevolent Bowl.

But first, they need to get past Saturday's respective semi-finals with Stocksfield hosting Premier Division rivals Heaton Stannington and Division One side United facing a trip to higher ranked Percy Main Amateurs.
Making it a big weekend of county cup semis for Tynedale teams, Haltwhistle Conservatives face unbeaten Burradon and New Fordley at Bardon Mill on Sunday in the Northumberland FA Sunday Cup.
Wallington aim to extend their lead at the top of the first division of the Northerm Alliance with a trip to Forest Hall, while Hexham will host Newcastle Chemfica (Independent) and Heddon welcome Willington Quay Saints.
In Division Two, Alston travel to Longbenton and Prudhoe Town are at Ashbrooke Belford House with a place in the next round of the Wearside League Cup up for grabs.
