SATURDAY was a day for draws, with four of the seven senior football teams from the district earning a point.
Prudhoe Town were held to a goalless draw with Willington in the Wearside League, while Stocksfield (v Killingworth Sporting), Hexham (v Gosforth Bohemians) and Alston (v Seaton Burn) all drew 2-2 in their respective Northern Alliance fixtures.
However, Wallington picked up the points in their game with Bedlington Terriers Reserves to stay top of Alliance One, while division rivals Heddon beating Newcastle Chemfica (Indpendent) 2-1. Ponteland United lost 2-0 at home to promotion chasing Cramlington Town.
FC Stocksfield dented Hexham Phoenix's Hexham and District Sunday League title hopes by defeating the high flyers 2-1, meaning Haltwhistle Conservatives are now the only unbeaten team in the league as they returned from Barrasford with a 6-3 success.
The top three in Division Three all won as the title race really heats up, leaders Bardon Mill 2-1 victors at Hexham Hearts, Ryton and Crawcrook Albion winners over Prudhoe YC, and Haydon Bridge Anchor beating Wylam Celtic 3-1.
