Tynedale slump to defeat at Coventry

TWO tries from full back Chris Harris were not enough to prevent Tynedale crashing to a 29-19 defeat in a good game at Coventry.

Tynedale v Coventry rugby

After falling behind to a converted try early on, Harris struck twice in quick succession, Matty Outson converting both to put Tynedale 14-5 ahead.
Coventry came back with a penalty and a converted try to lead 17-14 at the interval.
They stretched their lead with another converted try early in the second half, before man of the match Sam Reynolds brought Tynedale back into it at 24-19.
Coventry scored again, but close to the end, Tynedale had a penalty which would have earned them a losing bonus point. However, they wanted two, and kicked to touch in the hope of a fourth try.
Alas the line out came to nothing, and Tynedale finished empty handed.

Over 2,000 people attended the Temperance Gala held at Greencroft Park, Haltwhistle.

Led by the Bardon Mill Brass Band, 12 temperance societies paraded through the town, prior to an open air meeting in the park.

During the event the Rev. J.M. Russel condemned the House of Commons for rejecting a proposal to increase taxes on spirits and beer.
