Following the abandonment of the January race meeting because of snow, the Hexham Racecourse Executive are hoping it will be second time lucky when National Hunt Racing returns to Yarridge Heights on Thursday

Race goers will be able to watch six live races at Hexham, and the World Cup Hurdle Day card from the Cheltenham Festival will be shown on a specially arranged big screen situated on the course.

In spite of the economic downturn, major sponsors are remaining loyal to Hexham and are continuing to support this year's fixtures.

Next Thursday, a new sponsor, Bigtips.co.uk will be sponsoring four races at Yarridge including the feature race, the £10,000 Free Tips For Cheltenham @ bigtips.co.uk Novices Chase, due off at 2.55pm.

Race goers are also eagerly awaiting the start of the year's fixtures.

The Henderson Hospitality suite is already fully booked for the meeting and there are just a few tables available in the Pavilion Restaurant.

A courtesy bus will leave Hexham Railway Station at 1.36pm and the bus station at 1.38pm.

Racing fans are also reminded that there will be a second attempt to run the Tynedale Hunt point to point at Downhills, Corbridge, on Sunday, the eight-race card starting at 12-30.
