TYNEDALE Hockey Club started the new season like they ended their unbeaten campaign last year.
Their great form carried over, securing a 1-0 win over Stokesley when they welcomed their Teesside rivals to Hexham.
Despite a dominant first half performance, there was no end product and the teams remained level at half time.
In the second half, Tyne continued to attack and were rewarded when captain James Rainford found Tom Cant in space who subsequently found the bottom corner. The hosts continued to push but were denied by the Stokesley goalkeeper and defence, while Stokesley came close to scoring late on only to be denied by Brook Fielding in goal and his four solid defenders.
The three points will give them confidence as they travel to Stockton tomorrow.
