Special preview of jumps festival

A GUEST panel will be on hand at Hexham Racecourse to preview the world famous Cheltenham Festival.
In an exciting first for Yarridge Heights, an event looking ahead of the four-day sporting event will take place on Wednesday, March 6.
Held at the racecourse’s Henderson Suite at 7pm, a panel consisting of jockeys Peter Buchanan and Danny Cook, local trainer Michael Smith and Racing UK’s Andy Richmond and Will Smith will share their racing expertise.
The preview evening will act as a perfect warm-up to the opening fixture at Hexham on Thursday, March 14, which will coincide with St Patrick’s Day at Cheltenham.
The Yarridge meeting will be Cheltenham themed, with special lunches planned.

Saturday, June 20th, 1885Over 2,000 people attended the Temperance Gala held at Greencroft Park, Haltwhistle.
Led by the Bardon Mill Brass Band, 12 temperance societies paraded through the town, prior to an open air meeting in the park.
During the event the Rev. J.M. Russel condemned the House of Commons for rejecting a proposal to increase taxes on spirits and beer.
