ATHLETICS: A PRUDHOE triple jumper continues to write his name into the records book, smashing a North-East best which has stood for 15 years.
Scott Hall jumped a new personal best of 15.16m at the North Eastern Counties Athletics Association Championships, beating the previous competition record by a whopping 1.4m.
The jump saw him scoop the U20 title, while also firming up his place at the top of UK rankings.
The 18-year-old is enjoying a truly remarkable year, a double championship record in the triple and long jumps in the Northern Athletics Championships and a solid performance in the British Athletics European Trials and UK Championships among the highlights.
Meanwhile, Hexham Olympian Nick McCormick was in action Down Under, just missing out on first place in the Run the Bridge 10k.
The runner finished just behind eventual winner Liam Adams in the Australian event, but ahead of Australian Olympian Ben St Lawrence who settled for third spot.
