Pearson stays out in front

THE successes keep coming for Tynedale Harriers junior Max Pearson after his recent triumph in the Elswick Harriers U15 Road Race.

The promising youngster claimed first place in a competitive field, his time of 8.07 edging him ahead.

Prudhoe teenager Callum Outerside, representing Blaydon, was third with 8.36, while Tynedale’s Jaycee Shotton finished 11th in 9.24.

Meanwhile, Molly Carpenter, from Ponteland and representing the host club, was fifth in the female equivalent with a time of 10.26.

The younger members of the men’s senior section led the way as the team of Jonny Currie (11.13), Alistair Maxwell-Gray (11.51), Chris Baber (11.53) and Adam Pratt (11.37) claimed 10th spot in the relay.

The Harriers’ B team of Lea Stephenson (13.16), Jamie Adams (11.59), Darren Towerd (15.00) and Phil Thompson (11.35) were 28th.

Down in 35th place were Ponteland Runners consisting of Steve Allison (12.25), Elliott Ward (16.13), Mark Lyon (12.40) and Jason Old (12.58).

Ponteland performed well in the veteran women’s relay with their A team of Joanne Brown (13.30), Jo Shallcross (14.39) and Claire Tumia (14.27) finished in sixth place.

Kerry Old (15.07), Chris Ford (18.56) and Jill Errington (16.11), representing the B team, were 17th.

Tynedale Harriers were 16th of 38 complete teams in the veteran men’s, the team of Andy Green (11.38), Tim Griffiths (13.57), Dudley Roberts (13.22) and Ian Brown (13.09) putting in respectable performances.
