TWO teams from Haydon Bridge High School made their debuts at the Greenpower electric car event at Croft Racing Circuit.

Accompanied by Chris and Janice Baylis, from the Rotary Club of Hadrian's Wall, the youngster were in vehicles powered by batteries.

New rulings introduced this year by the Greenpower Education Trust dictate batteries cannot be changed during each race, so careful calculations were vital.

Both teams achieved fantastic results and the girls’ team scooped one of the prizes for the best mileage for a newcomer.

The project, initiated in this area by Hadrian’s Wall Rotary Club, is also sponsored by the Hexham and Tynedale Rotary Clubs.
