Heddon grab points with lucky rebound

A LATE goal with a slice of good fortune earned Heddon all three points as they returned from Cullercoats with a 3-2 success.

Richard Darwent was celebrating the winner on 85 minutes when the ball rebounded back off him after the home goalkeeper Jamie Walton kept out his initial effort.

The goal earned Heddon the spoils from an end-to-end encounter which saw Andrew Hall gift the visitors the lead with a storming effort into the top corner.

Goals from Elliot Mitchell and Rob Watson though saw Cullercoats enjoy the lead, before parity was restored as defender Dale Robson rose highest to head home a Heddon equaliser.

The away side dominated from then, Robbie Frame and Hall guilty of missing three golden opportunities each.

It looked destined to end all square until Darwent was allowed to poke the ball into an empty net after his fortuitous rebound.
