Haltwhistle’s double delight

HALTWHISTLE completed the league and cup double as they edged out Prudhoe in a close West Tyne Bowls League Cup final.

Played at Hexham Elvaston, Haltwhistle won by two rinks to one - although Prudhoe would have won on shots with 47 to 45!

On a sweltering night where one of the Prudhoe team was taken ill, Haltwhistle deserve great credit for their concern and for agreeing to allow a substitute to finish the match.

In other matches, Hexham Elvaston Ladies won again to keep up their promotion challenge, but the men had to endure another defeat, at Walker.

The overall performance was much improved and the final result was close enough, with one drawn rink and one lost by only two shots.
