Graeme misses out

ALLENDALE’S motor cycle race ace Graeme Gowland’s season has ended with a whimper rather than the hoped for bang.

He was due to compete in the season finale of the World Supersport Championship at the newly-built Portimao track in Portugal’s Algarve this weekend.

However, the Berry Racing team he rides for have withdrawn from the meeting at the 11th hour.

Graeme was only notified of the team’s decision at the last minute via an email from the team owner.

An upset Graeme said: “I am really disappointed not to be racing at Portimao.

“I was looking forward to this race as the Portimao circuit looks awesome, and with it being a new track it would have been more of a level playing field; I feel I could have pushed for a good result.

Graeme, the reigning Spanish Supersport champion, has yet to finalise his plans for the 2009 season.
