Giant killers Ponteland book place in final

PONTELAND United's impressive giant killing spree continued as they booked their place in the final of the prestigious Northumberland FA Senior Benevolent Bowl.

The Division One outfit included Premier Division hosts Percy Main Amateurs in their long list of higher ranked scalps, a 3-2 success giving them a great shot at clinching the second biggest trophy in the county.
They conceded in the opening minute, but their passage was secured by two goals from Dan Wright and one from strike partner Billy Holden.
Tyne Valley outfit Stocksfield will hope to join United in the final, their semi-finals tie with Heaton Stannington postponed and rearranged for this coming Saturday.
There was county cup semi-final heartbreak for Haltwhistle Conservatives as they failed to get past Burradon and New Fordley.
A valiant effort to get so far ended in disappointment, two goals from Dan Kirkup not enough for the Cons who went down 5-2 in front of a healthy crowd of 100 plus.
