Super sub Leadbitter on target for Greens

NATHAN Leadbitter came off the bench to score a hat-trick in Hexham U14 Greens’ victory over Longhoughton.

He helped secure the 5-2 success for his team, adding to a first half strike from cousin Dale Leadbitter and an own goal. Owen Murtough orchestrated the midfield to be named man of the match.

League leaders Hexham U13 Greens twice trailed at Hazelrigg Ajax, but they dug in deep to come away with a 4-3 success.

With James Bowes named star player, Alex Wood scored twice and both Seth Kippax Jones and Olly James found the back of the net too.

In the Pin Point Recruitment League, Hexham U15 enjoyed a fine 6-1 home win over Bedlington Redskins, Ryan Gardner with a hat-trick, and Cameron Whiteley, Oliver Miller and Joe Hughes also netting.

Despite putting in a great display at table topping Newcastle East End, Hexham U17 lost 2-1, but Hexham U12 Whites shared the points in a 1-1 draw with Bedlington Juniors Lightening. Meanwhile, Hexham U16 lost 4-1 at Cramlington.

Elsewhere, there were 6-0 defeats for Hexham U12 and Hexham U11 as they faced Cramlington and Montague Blues respectively.

In the Northumberland Girls League, Wylam Rockettes U10 shared the spoils in a 12-goal thriller with Cramlington Girls.

They trailed by three goals after 10 minutes but they fought back to force a draw as goal machine Josie Fenwick scored all six goals.

Also earning a point was Wylam Rockettes U12 as they drew 1- 1 with Morpeth, Molly Moor opening the scoring for Wylam before being immediately pegged back. Izzy Flynn was voted Wylam’s girl of the game.

Girl of the game Georgia Briggs got the ball rolling early for Wylam Rockettes U13 as they recorded a 3-0 triumph over Cramlington United, Maria Stamp notching twice in the second half to make sure of the points.

Wylam Rockettes U14 were also victorious at the weekend, albeit in a friendly at Longhoughton Rangers, Georgia Birch getting both goals in the 2-0 win.

The club’s latest addition Wylam Rockettes U11 Rascals got their first taste of competitive football against their club counterparts and, despite putting in a valiant performance, ended up on the wrong end of a 6-0 scoreline.

Meanwhile, Prudhoe YC U13 Reds battled hard to pick up three points in the Pin Point Recruitment Junior Football League.

They defeated Montagu 3-2, man of the match Geoffrey Bowes, Owen Watson and Liam Stephenson netting to earn the victory.
