Prudhoe claw back for draw

FOR once the recent bad weather failed to disrupt the Tyne Valley Insurance Tynedale U10s Mini-soccer League programme on Saturday morning with all but one of the scheduled fixtures going ahead as planned.

Fightback of the day was down at Prudhoe where the Youth Club Boys side shared the points with Hexham after a 3-3 draw.

Prudhoe enjoyed a good share of the opening play and created a number of first half changes.

But the visitors ability to counter at pace proved decisive.

Jonathan Carr starred for Hexham in netting an excellent brace with George Cook also scoring to take their side into an apparent three goal winning lead.

However, they reckoned without their opponents’ fighting qualities and goals from James Potts, Dalton Newton and Matthew Bunney clinched a share of the spoils for Prudhoe.

Jonathan Carr impressed for Hexham, whose keeper Richard Brooks also starred, while the versatile Daniel Thompson was prominent for the hosts, whose Scott Errington had a pleasing debut.

First Division leaders Haydon Bridge overwhelmed luckless Prudhoe YC Reds while second placed Throckley Magpies AC hit nine without a reply against their fellow club side Inter.

Reece Whitfield led the way with four with Luke Banks scoring a double while Oliver Carver, Kai Heslop and Lloyd Jackson also netted for AC.

James Beckwith took the man of the match award for the winners with Inter best served by Kevin Namagowa.

Lewis Twizell and star performer Aaron Smith both notched hat-tricks as Corbridge United returned to winning ways with the 6-0 defeat of Wark whose top player was Jack Johnstone.

Corbridge United Lions just shaded old rivals Stocksfield by the odd goal in five after overcoming an early setback.

Matthew Percival (2) and Matty Pugh were on target for the Lions with Nathan Crozier and James McGee the Stocksfield marksmen.

Keeper Aaron Rourke starred for the visitors while Ellen Packham celebrated her 10th birthday with the honour of being judged the Corbridge player of the game.

Although the chasing pack have a number of games in hand on Throckley Magpies U9s, the leaders enjoy the advantage of a 14 points cushion at the top of Division Two following their 9-0 win over Prudhoe YC Blues.

Gave Ellis hit a treble with Connor Burgess and Steven Carey scoring doubles and Mason Barker and Liam Richardson also netting.

Bailey Garwood took the man of the match award for the Magpies with Joseph Robson starring for the visitors.

Haydon Bridge U9s and Hexham Greens are competing for a top two finish but had to be content with a point apiece after they drew 4-4.

Hexham were another team to stage a great rally after fighting back strongly from a 4-1 deficit. The visitors actually opened the scoring through the excellent William Roberts but then found themselves trailing by three to strikes by Jordan Armstrong, Nathan Leadbitter, Kian Rock and Cavan Scott.

Undaunted the Hexham outfit battled back to share the spoils with goals from Seth Kippax-Jones, Daniel Long and Ben Wright.

Midfielder David Robson impressed for the Haydonians while the single point was enough to allow Hexham Greens to join their idle neighbours Corbridge United U9s in the runners-up spot.

Allendale’s challenge for league honours may well be at long odds but they continue to produce some good results and they proved too strong for the younger Stocksfield Rangers in winning 6-0.

Callum Snowdon, Bradley Wilson and the impressive Alex Liverick all scored twice against a Stocksfield side best served by Ben Stokoe.

Hexham Whites’ 7-2 defeat of Prudhoe YC Yellows was a personal triumph for Thomas Lewis who scored a double hat-trick with Callum Mallinson also netting.

The visitors found Hexham keeper William Goldie in fine form but were rewarded for their efforts with goals by Adam Gray and their man of the match Connor Curry.

Wylam Rockets Whites and their club counterparts Tynedale fought out a typical derby with the former coming out on top 4-2.

Ben Callender notched a hat-trick for the Whites with the prominent Daniel Lax also finding the net while Josh Keller scored twice for Tynedale whose star man was Louie French.

Corbridge United Rangers narrowly lost out to Haltwhistle United by the odd goal in seven.

Luke Davidson, Ruaridh McMillan, Jake Shipley and the impressive Adam Archibald scored or the far West Division side while top performers Sam Douglas replied twice for Corbridge whose other scorer was Alex Buchanan.
