WITH Tyne Valley Insurance Tynedale U10s Mini-soccer League Division One Championship rivals Prudhoe YC Reds involved in Challenge Shield action, Hexham took advantage by gaining valuable points with the 9-4 defeat of Prudhoe YC Yellows on Saturday morning.

Hexham warmed up for tomorrow morning’s vital clash with the Reds by virtue of clinical finishing although the Youth Club Yellows put up a great fight with the title contenders a little flattered by the scoreline.

Bradley Lowes and man of the match Callum Duncan led the way with hat-tricks while Carl Fairless weighed in with a brace and Tom Quibell also netting.

Daniel Cain starred at the back for the battling home side who replied through Eliot Beaumont(2), Oliver Carey and Matthew Henderson.

A hat-trick by Harry Besewick Maddocks helped Wylam Rockets United Whites with the impressive Thomas Westgarth also scoring.

Josh Maclennan excelled in midfield for the home side who netted through William Jeffrey and Dylan Pughe.

Wark went nap without reply to complete the double over old rivals Haydon Bridge with Dean Foster notching a hat-trick and Dominic Rapier a brace.

Josh Renton gave a versatile performance for the winners in starring as a defender and then excelling as keeper after the break.

Archie Story was always a handful for the home defence and this earned him the Haydonians man of the match award.

Pride was at stake when Stocksfield travelled west for their bottom of the table clash with Haltwhistle United.

Both sides had to be content with a share of the spoils after playing out a goalless draw which is something of a collector’s item in mini-soccer.

Brandon Barker was in top form at left back for Halty with Liam Thomson also starring.

Adam Wilson made a number of fine saves between the posts for Stocksfield with Sam Beadle, Lucy Harper, Ben Shane Stone and Daniel Macdonald all prominent in another good all round team performance while Chris Joscelyn came “off the bench” to take the man of the match accolade.

Both sides had chances to break the deadlock in a good competitive game with Daniel Macdonald going close for Stocksfield and Harley Parkinson almost snatching a late winner for the hosts.

On a morning when a total of 22 goals were scored in only two games at Prudhoe the Youth Club U10s outfit went down 6-3 at home to Throckley Magpies after contesting a good entertaining encounter.

Prudhoe dominated the opening period but only led by the odd goal in five with Perry Hall notching a hat-trick the Magpies countered strongly in the second half to seize the initiative with a couple of late strikes clinching victory.

Lee Edwards excelled in midfield for Prudhoe but goals from Ben Alsop, Scott Hill and dominant midfielder Daniel Hadfield plus a treble by Arran Whale finally won the day for the Black and Whites.

Joint leaders Prudhoe YC Reds are on course for three trophies and they clinched a place in their second final with the 2-1 defeat of Corbridge United Greens in the semi-final of the League Challenge Shield.

Oscar Speed volleyed Corbridge United an early lead with the home side holding their own in a great end to end tie.

However they received a double set back late in the first half when a hard driven cross from Sam Mannion was turned into his own net by an unfortunate Corbridge defender.

The equaliser was followed by the visitors scoring a second on the stroke of half-time with man of the match Robbie Dawson heading home a corner for the eventual winner.

The third placed hosts had given the all conquering Prudhoe side a good work out and Speed was close to taking the game into extra time with a late headers with their top performer being defender Matthew Medlen.

Prudhoe YC Reds will meet Throckley Magpies in the final and this will be a repeat of the forthcoming West Division Youth FA Coalfields Regeneration Trust Trophy final.

It’s been a roller-coaster of a Second Division for Haltwhistle United Blues but Wylam Rockets Yellows had the misfortune to catch them on one of their good days in being hit for six without reply.

The Rockets began well but once Halty got into their stride the goals began to follow.

Marksmen for the visitors were Billy Rogan(2), Charlie Davidson, Cavan Glenwright, Dion Parker and star man Lewis Weeks.

Alex Greenshields impressed for Wylam with Jack Main also excelling with a versatile display as keeper and outfield players.

Corbridge United U9s fell behind to an early goal from Jack Crocher but fought back to defeat Throckley Magpies Inter 2-1.

Nika Sharifi and top performer William Baxter were the scorers against a visitors’ side best served by Dean Boulton.

Corbridge United Celtic and Throckley/Lemington were deadlocked 0-0 at half-time but the floodgates opened after the break with the Lemington boys scoring six.

The outstanding Bradley Gladstone notched a hat-trick with Brandon Bailles, Steven Rodgers and Josh Taylor also on target against a home side whose Nathan Aspinall did well.

James Young hit a hat-trick for Stocksfield Juniors but still finished on the losing side as Allendale won by the odd goal in seven.

Oliver Hancock(2), Robert Pringle and Robert Thirlwell netted for the Dale whose star player was Thomas Barnes with Emily Ward again impressing for Stocksfield.

A fine all round team performance by Haydon Bridge in the 4-1 defeat of Stocksfield Rangers confirms them as probable runners-up.

The Bridge dominated the early stages and were close to opening the scoring when Cedwyn Scott won the ball to link up with Owen Graham and Nathan Barwick for the latter to flash a shot-cum-centre across the face of the goal and out at the far post.

The visitors forced a string of corners but Stocksfield broke quickly for Josh Watts to have an effort held by Haydon Bridge keeper Joe Johnston.

Good defensive play by Connor Rushton got the visitors out of trouble at the back with play switching to the opposite end where the Haydonians took a 15 minute lead when a Scott corner found the net.

Stocksfield’s Tom Storey made a good run to force a corner and this led to Watts hitting a cross shot which flashed inches wide of the back post and half-time came with the visitors holding their slender lead.

Haydon Bridge doubled their advantage one minute into the second half when a speculative shot from long range by Scott found the net.

The hosts’ Bradley Maughan made a couple of determined runs before losing out to weight of numbers.

If the opening two goals had been rather fortuitous there was no luck attached to the Bridge’s third strike as the pacey Owen Graham raced on to a long clearance and his neat finish left the home keeper helpless.

Stocksfield were close to pulling one back when a cross shot by Jack Colmer was almost turned in by Maughan.

Owen Graham fired against the post while a lob by Barwick sailed just wide.

A similar effort at the opposite end from John Clarkson was turned behind by keeper Johnstone but Stocksfield reduced the arrears with a superb effort from Jack Colmer.

The dangerous duo of Cewyn Scott and Owen Graham combined for Graham to finish in style for his side’s fourth.

James Doneathy flashed a header from a Daniel Del-Prete corner just over but at the final whistle Haydon Bridge were good value for their victory.
