Heddon in the mix

HEDDON came from behind to claim maximum points from their trip to Newcastle Chemfica.

Striker Max Turner struck the winner for the Northumberland side, tapping in Michael Pooley’s cross from three yards to help them bounce back from the previous week’s horror show against Newcastle University.

Against the run of play, Chemfica gained the upper hand when Liam Naulls capitalised on a defensive error.

The goal was soon cancelled out when former Stocksfield man Scott Johnson powered home a header to restore parity.

Both sides had chances to get their noses in front, but Heddon were grateful goalkeeper Ian Harvey was in impressive form as he pulled off three crucial stops to maintain his side’s lead.

Harvey’s performance allowed Heddon to go on the attack, Turner again coming to his side’s rescue to keep them in the mix at the top of Division One.
