Greens in the hunt

WALLINGTON enter 2014 as shock title challengers in the Premier Division of the Northern Alliance.

A fantastic 4-1 victory away at Red House Farm rounded off an exceptional year for the Greens following their capture of the Division One crown last term.

They start the new year one point off top spot after man of the match John Paxton got the ball rolling against Farm on 11 minutes, Justin Millican credited with the assist.

Their lead was doubled just eight minutes later, Sam Walton continuing his excellent goalscoring form.

Paxton got his second of the afternoon not long after the half hour as he sent home Chris Moffitt’s pass for Wallington’s third.

The visitors were dominating possession and continued to blow Red House away, Paxton’s strike partner Jordan Nellis rounding off the scoring for the Greens with 15 minutes remaining.

Evergreen Green Kyle Reardon made his last appearance for the club for a long while, the midfielder replaced by younger brother Glenn on 80 minutes as he prepares to embark on a trip around the world.
