Goals galore for Stocksfield

A RAMPANT Stocksfield showed no mercy on Division Two basement boys Swinburne Arms Stamfordham as they thumped 21 goals past them.

Meeting in the Mick Simmons Trophy, the Division One side finished the game 21-1 to the good with James Teasdale leading the way with five goals. There were hat-tricks for Sandy Tordoff and Rob Grainey, doubles for Reece Davies and Louis Wake, and singles from Luke Robson, Jonny Barrett, Scott Turley, Scott Douglas, Tom Wanless and an own goal.

Prudhoe Social Club put 12 without reply past Acomb Welfare as Stefan Rainbow hit four, Matthew Hopkins got two, and Tom Robinson, Liam Watson, Liam Blair, Shaun Sagar, Marc Sagar and Craig Moffatt all got in on the act too.

In midweek action, Prudhoe played out a goalless draw with Division One side Barrasford, while Bardon Mill beat Dr Syntax Prudhoe 3-1 and Haydon Bridge Anchor defeated Allendale by the same scoreline.

Haltwhistle Conservatives and Hexham Phoenix will contest the final of the John Pickworth League Cup after booking their places at the weekend, with respective wins over Wylam and Bardon Mill.

In league action, Stocksfield put the pressure on second placed Wylam with a 3-0 win in midweek over Phoenix.

Meanwhile, goals from Marc Nixon and Matt Wilson earned Barrasford a 2-0 victory at Ryton and Crawcrook Albion, while Rose and Crown Bellingham’s relegation was confirmed as they went down 3-0 at Allendale.
