Celtic are hit for six by Ryton

RYTON and Crawcrook Albion took the opportunity to extend their lead at the top of Division Two with a 6-0 success over Wylam Celtic.

Doubles from Sam Moore, Adrian Sutcliffe and Chris Holt allowed the table toppers to open up a two-point advantage.

Also big winners on the day were Prudhoe The Falcon who moved into fourth spot courtesy of a 7-0 thumping of Swinburne Arms Stamfordham.

The points were secured with braces from Jack L’Argent and Jordan Phillips and solos from Lee Blackburn, Jack Bell and Andrew Smith.

Four goals from Phil Murray saw Prudhoe Town defeat Wylam Brewery 5-1 in Division One. Chris Hill got the other, and James Curry netted for Brewery.

Marc Nixon also bagged himself four goals as Barrasford defeated Dr Syntax Prudhoe 5-2. Brother Gary got on the scoresheet too, while Scot Goldsmith-Scott bagged both for the Tax.

Division Two’s Hexham Hearts were put to the sword in The John Pickworth League Cup by Halfway House Prudhoe. Goals from Colin Hardwick, Stephen Douglas, Chris Hall, Ben Dobson and Graham ensured a 5-1 victory.

In a cracker between two in-form teams, Haltwhistle Cons eliminated rivals FC Stocksfield with a 4-2 triumph. Norman Calvert, Mark Robson, Jonny Wallace and an own goal ensured their passage to the semi-finals, with Tom Coulter and Luke Robson hitting replies for Stocksfield.
