WENTWORTH Leisure won the Tynedale Knockout competition beating the Dyvels by 35 runs in an entertaining final at Priors Flat.
Batting first Wentworth Leisure got off to a good start with Steven Donnison and Ali Stobbs putting on 59 runs for the first wicket in seven overs before Stobbs was bowled for 36.
After Donnison retired on 40, the innings lost momentum with good bowling by Clayton-Hibbott, Mullins and Williams.
A score of 152 was posted which looked within range of a strong Dyvels batting line-up, however John Fox removed three of the early batsmen to reduce the Dyvels to 21-4.
A good partnership between the experienced Ian Donkin and Ian Dodds looked to have rescued the situation but Stobbs removed Donkin for a well made 30.
Wentworth’s John Fox was man of the match for an inspired and impressive opening bowling performance of 3-17.

A workman was buried alive while digging a drain in the Prudhoe Urban Council's housing estate at Oaklands.
Workmates rushed to the aid of 50-year-old Richard Barclay, of Stocksfield, when the wall of the trench he was digging collapsed.
They managed to dig his head and shoulders free before finally pulling him from the earth. He was found to be suffering from shock and bruising.
