Stocksfield’s title hopes take a blow

THE abandonment of Stocksfield’s home game with Warkworth saw them pegged back by second placed Tillside.
While the table toppers looked comfortable with openers Alex Brown and Steven Henderson taking them to 97-0, they had to settle for five points for the draw as the game prematurely ended in the 18th over.
Their nearest rivals Tillside were only happy to take full advantage as their game with Berwick was the only one in the Premier League which lasted the distance, an 113 run victory taking them level on points with the Tyne Valley side.
It was a frustrating outcome for Stocksfield as Brown (43no) and Henderson (46no) put them in a commanding position, both batsmen hitting seven fours along the way.
Warkworth tried their best to bring about the fall of wickets, Adam Hall (0-21), George Puddephatt (0-22), William Pringle (0-11), Gary McAulay (0-20), Jamie Pringle (0-15) and John Briggs (0-8) all unsuccessful with their efforts.
Corbridge continue to be in fourth as they were unable to get any game time under their belts when Clara Vale headed to The Stanners.
