CORBRIDGE Cricket Club will be running a women’s team in 2010.
Indoor practice and coaching have started at the sports hall in the Wentworth Leisure Centre, Hexham, on Thursdays, at 8pm.
Women and girls over 13 will be welcome, either as beginners or if they have played cricket previously.
ECB qualified coaches will run the sessions over a six-week period.
Soft balls will be used during these introductory sessions.
Women’s cricket is growing in popularity in the Tynedale area with teams established at Stocksfield, Wylam and, last season, Hexham Leazes.
To find out more about the forthcoming women’s cricket coaching, prospective players are asked to contact Dave Smurthwaite on (01434) 633707, or e-mail him at davesmurthwaite@hotmail.com
