With five women’s teams now playing league cricket in the Tyne Valley area, there is a growing interest in the female game at a younger level.

To encourage the development of the game the Northumberland Cricket Board is running a coaching course for girls aged eight to 13.

Starting on Tuesday, at Walbottle Campus Technology College between 6pm to 7.30pm, the course is open to any girls interested.

It is run by qualified ECB coaches who will provide all the equipment.
