Angels get their wings

CORBRIDGE Angels made it two wins in a row as they continued to show signs of improvement in their eight wicket victory over South Northumberland.

Kelly Withycombe, for Corbridge, overcame the challenge of Northumberland teammate Roshy Ali to remain not out on 19 to guarantee her side the victory.

South North batted first and were restricted to 39 runs with Ali making 33 of that total, Chloe Dixon right on the spot for all five overs as she claimed three wickets for 11 runs.

After Corbridge captain Lisa Scott was bowled first ball, Withycombe impressed with Jennifer Sewell (6) also showing encouraging signs.

Elsewhere in Division One of the Northumberland Women’s Cricket League, Stocksfield defeated Gateshead Fell by eight wickets as they breezed past the 98 set by their hosts.
