Beating the rain

RAIN will not stop play for golfers in Tynedale thanks to a new weather-beating scheme.

For golfers who fall victim to the rain at Matfen Hall will be invited back for a free round.

The gesture is open to all visiting players who pay the full rate green fee, and suffered rainfall for at least nine holes, or for two hours.

The scheme is designed to run until the end of August.

Matfen Hall’s head professional John Harrison, said: “We know there are many frustrated golfers out there who have looked forward to playing and have just had their round washed out.”
