WHEELCHAIR-BOUND sports star from Whitley Chapel Edward Common (above) has added another award to his already groaning trophy cabinet.
The 17-year-old all international all-rounder was recognised for his contribution to disabled sport at the Northern Sports Awards at Alnwick Playhouse this week.
The Hexham Queen Elizabeth High School pupil is the already the reigning Tynedale Sports Council disabled athlete of the year.
Edward is a muscular dystrophy sufferer who refuses to let his disability stop him competing at many different sports at national level.
He won four gold medals at the national athletics championships in Blackpool last year, was a member of the England team that finished runners-up in Powerchair Football World Cup and captained his team to third place in the national table cricket finals.
