Robin Hulbert's 2010/2011 season blog - entry 11

I AM thinking of becoming a weekend cleaner. Read more and you will understand!

I knew it was cold the other day when I woke up and saw a penguin in the corner of the room with a coat on shivering. It’s snow joke!

I also woke up stuck to the sheets because of my painful ice/astro burn! With the weather as it is we are having to train indoors all the time. We need the weather to ease up. I, for one, cannot keep doing sliding tackles on the indoor astroturf and, for two, all the boys are desperate for a game.

Although the temperature is cold, training in this last month or so has really gone up a notch. Things are more heated, which believe me is good. Were you to watch, you would think there are medals on the line – which is just how it should be. I’m a firm believer that you should train how you play.

Because we’ve had so many games postponed, I’ve had to find something to do on Saturdays – I’ve never done so much housework, cleaning and shopping! I can take no more. It’s usually my legs that ache, but now it’s my hands! lol.

Our first game back could, weather permitting, be the FA Trophy first round tie at home against Guiseley on Saturday. It will be a very hard game, believe me. From what I hear, they have a big budget and some good players. I’m looking forward to a ding-dong battle before the Christmas fixtures kick in.

In my eyes, December and January are very big months as we play Southport twice and have a few games against other teams who are around us in the table.

My aim is for us to go unbeaten during this period. That will be my Christmas present.

Sure, it will be a huge task, but you have to set yourself goals to achieve. Every squad member will have to play their part, as the squad is small and the games come around quick.

I’m glad Wilesy is on the road to recovery and is back doing rehab.

I would also like to wish Tommy Cosh all the best for the future. He took a lot of stick from the boys, especially me, but he took it very well and was a nice man.

Right Bluebirds, let’s get the game on and get it started again.
