Sunday parking

ON Sundays, for many years, people (and especially churchgoers) have parked on the street in central Hexham.
Strictly speaking, they have parked illegally on single yellow lines and in loading bays.
However, with most shops and businesses closed and the town relatively quiet, this has caused no problem.
Recently, traffic wardens have begun to book cars parked on single yellow lines and in loading bays on Sundays, even though no loading and unloading takes place.
With several large churches in or in close proximity to Beaumont Street, the parking spaces there are quickly filled on a Sunday morning, leaving little free parking available near to the town centre churches.
I hope that the local authority will consider changing the restrictions on parking on single yellow lines and in loading bays from seven days a week to Monday-Saturday only, thus freeing up much needed parking spaces.
