Ruined view

I’M glad to see we have a civic society looking after the interest of Hexham (Courant, November 23).

However, where was Mr Higgins and his committee when Hexham’s Victorian boathouse on Tyne Green (white with blue wrought iron) was demolished and replaced by a monstrosity of a building which has completely ruined the view of Tyne Green from the bridge. No doubt visitors to Hexham coming into town think it’s the beginning of an industrial estate.

Maybe Mr Higgins was in Marbella studying architecture at the time.

A. DICKINSON,

Hexham
