Marriage vote

I WOULD like to take the unusual step, for me, of applauding the actions of our Tory MP Guy Opperman in voting for same sex marriages in the House of Commons last week.

There is still a lot of prejudice in local Conservative associations and, despite the backing of David Cameron, it seems the majority of Tories still oppose enabling people who love each other to marry.

I hope Mr Opperman can take his colleagues on a journey and stamp out the prejudice and bullying in his party’s ranks, which has been a problem in recent years.
