Huge success

I SHOULD like to thank all those who helped make the celebration of the Diamond Jubilee in Corbridge on Saturday, June 4, such a memorable success by organising, helping or attending one or more of the four events that took place.

First up was the children’s street party attended by several hundred youngsters and parents – very well organised by Faith Rutherford and Pam Proud.

During the afternoon the combined groups of Corbridge and Dilston hosted a tea for the older generation – and wow what a spread!

At 4pm we had the opening of the Diamond Jubilee Park to the front of the parish hall designed and installed by the Corbridge in Bloom group, but with many sponsors.

Lastly in the evening we had a ‘50s’ dance to Alison Hildreth and her band which was a near sell out!

I estimate that well in excess of 500 people attended the community events during the day.

Special mention has to go to our very hard working council clerk Mandy Senior and hall caretaker John Chant who worked tirelessly before, during and after the day to help make it run smoothly!

Many thanks again to all involved.

Chairman,

Corbridge Parish Council
