Holiday venture

EVEN after two unequivocal planning refusals, the controversy over the grotesquely inappropriate holiday village proposal at Langley continues.

Mr Mann (Courant Letters, February 19) describes the area in question as ‘remote’ from the houses at Langley.

In fact, the closest house and the village hall are 25 yards away and my own group of houses are 125 yards away. I wonder what his understanding of the word ‘remote’ is?

Perhaps his understanding is informed by the fact that he lives in Allendale? On this basis are any of his other opinions on the subject to be relied upon?

Whilst the current site may well be quiet and rather untidy in an AONB, this is no justification for replacing it with a noisy and intrusive one.

Then again, if employment is the main issue, we shall, I am sure, be delighted to assist Mr Mann in looking for a suitable site in Allendale.
