High-flying

THE hundreds, even thousands, of good-spirited citizens packing central Hexham on Saturday must have included many who had been glad to see the banners that promoted the event – unlike your correspondent Neil Hemmings (Courant Letters, June 15).
He dourly complained about being distracted by the banners announcing ‘something in which I have no interest whatsoever’.
I’ve read a few unhappy letters in the Courant over the years, though none quite as miserable as his.
