Hexham: Poor publicity

I HAVE difficulty explaining how relieved I was to see your article on the reduced parking time at Tesco (Courant, January 4)

Just after Christmas, my son and I parked both our cars at Tesco, knowing we would be there for around two and a half hours.

I did not look at the sign as we went in, and it was probably blocked by cars leaving.

I was therefore horrified to notice on my return that the figure ‘2’ had been stuck over what had previously said three hours parking.

Since then I have been worrying about a possible bill for a total of £150 for the two of us.

I have been wondering how I missed any publicity for the change. I have mentally drafted an appeal letter against the expected penalty fee. All in all, it has been a worrying time.

It seems to me that Tesco has handled this extremely badly. Surely the publicity should come ahead of putting a sticker on the sign.
