Hexham: Parking restriction will take trade away from the town centre

WHY, I ask, is the change in parking limits at its Hexham store happening now (Courant, January 4) when Tesco has been happy for years?

Tesco has reduced parking times outside its Hexham store from three to two hours because its car park is busy during peak periods.

Is the change to enable Tesco to remove more money from the local economy and also to restrict people from parking at Tesco and walking up to the town centre, removing more spend from our local traders?

Or is the change because extra cars will be coming to the new Next shop?

I wonder what the time limit will be at the goods yard development as one of the selling points to the planners is links with the town centre.

A short time limit would be of no benefit to the town as a whole.
