Financial motives for fire station plan

AS is evident from the town council’s continued opposition to it, the prospect of construction of a fire station on the land adjacent to Prudhoe West School has raised a litany of legitimate concerns amongst parents, school governors and local residents, none of which has been adequately addressed during the planning/consultation process.
It is clear that in deciding to give the go-ahead to these proposals, the planning department at Northumberland County Council has paid little regard to the views of local people familiar with the area, all of whom agree the development is wholly inappropriate to the location.
The council seems to have rather rushed through this application, driven principally by financial motives.
I think it is wrong, and that the grasping desire for public funds should not be allowed to overshadow the rights of community to appropriate and responsible decisions.
