WE were shocked to read the article regarding the future development at Sunningdale (Courant, February 19).

My wife and I reside at the apartments and believe the terrace of houses proposed would look a lot prettier than the derelict land, which is an eyesore.

The objections were, in our opinion, incredibly petty. If anyone bothered to look at the proposed plans before objecting, they would have realised that parking would not be an issue as ample parking would be tactfully provided, accessed via the rear of the properties and would not be burrowed into the hillside.

As far as the hedge and trees that have been mentioned, anyone passing can see the hedge is very sparse most of the year and passers-by use it to discard bags and cans.

As for looking out over Egger, no one in Hexham has much of an option other than to look at this large eyesore but it provides a lot to our community and has to be accepted no matter which area of Hexham you live in.

A lot of the people who reside at the apartments already have Egger as their main view from their windows, with no complaints.

We believe there is a high demand in Hexham for the new development of 12 terraced houses and four flats which will be fully managed and looked after, in the caring manner that the rest of the Sunningdale developments are.
