PEOPLE do not ask much of a local authority; they want roads prioritised, the elderly looked after and a sense that their money is being well spent.

The county council never cleared the roads in large parts of Ponteland in the snow, even near the schools. It has failed to care for the elderly and now has turned into some trade union; its leaders – despite being in debt – say that they cannot take action because people would lose their jobs.

Over 100 people run the computers in the council. I want front line people’s jobs and front line services saved, not some back office technician who produces a useless magazine.

Now to cap it all this useless council had agreed to a mobile phone mast outside the first school.

If this was a private company its leadership would all be sacked.

If they do nothing else, they should balance the books – even if the deadwood has to go – and stop this mobile phone mast.
