Wasted money

AS a council tax payer in Hexham, I can not see why the local authority wastes money on painting double yellow lines, on traffic management systems and on traffic wardens, if drivers simply ignore these measures without consequence.
Vehicles are frequently parked on the Abbey flagstones, use loading bays as parking zones and drive down Fore Street during the pedestrianised hours, especially on Sundays.
Market traders block the end of Fore Street, which should be kept clear for emergency access, while our traffic wardens wander about aimlessly.
