Creating

From a young age I watched my mother and grandmother stitch and knit their way through children’s clothes and soft furnishings for the home. Not surprising then that I too “enjoy!” creating.
Most recently as the children have grown and I have more time on my hands I have enjoyed creating heirlooms for them and their families. Embroidered tablecloths as wedding gifts, jumpers and cardigans for grandchildren, and most recently a quilt made out of the bridesmaids’ dresses. This in turn has led me to collect favourite items of clothing, now long past “wear by” date but reminders of special times, which I am slowly turning into quilts.
Finding supplies has been quite a challenge since the demise of so many of our haberdashers but the internet has proved a valuable resource. Try www.totallybuttons.com and www.cottonpatch.co.uk. I would love to hear from others who are making something from nothing (or at least very little).
