FOUR bikes and a pair of designer sunglasses have been stolen during a spate of burglaries in Wylam.
Three homes on Falcon Terrace, Algernon Terrace and The Dene were targeted by thieves between 9am on Wednesday, April 10, and 8pm the following day.
The items stolen include a black and red Roma Giant bike with white forks, a white Pinarello bike with a blue and red trim, two Trek road bikes and a pair of Oakley sunglasses.
One of the thieves is thought to have escaped towards Newburn.
East Tynedale Neighbourhood Inspector Dave Balmer said: “We would like to ask the public to help us stop thieves by reporting any suspicious behaviour and also to take some time to check their security.
“Remember to record any serial numbers and where possible take photos of your items and log them on the free property registration service Immobilise.”
Anyone who saw anything suspicious or knows anything about the thefts should contact police on 101 ext 69191.

A workman was buried alive while digging a drain in the Prudhoe Urban Council's housing estate at Oaklands.
Workmates rushed to the aid of 50-year-old Richard Barclay, of Stocksfield, when the wall of the trench he was digging collapsed.
They managed to dig his head and shoulders free before finally pulling him from the earth. He was found to be suffering from shock and bruising.
