A TRAIN has struck a car after it crashed onto the railway line between Greenhead and Haltwhistle.
Police say the car strayed on to the line at around 4.25pm on Wednesday and received a "glancing blow" from a passing freight train.
Officers at the scene say the train stopped further down the line and no-one on board was injured.
However, the ambulance service was called to deal with one casualty from the car.
See this week's Hexham Courant for further details.
