POLICE say they have no information to suggest any danger to the public after a shotgun was stolen during a burglary in Corbridge.
The Browning over and under 12-bore firearm was taken from a property near the village railway station between 8am and 5pm on Thursday, February 7.
Officers say no ammunition was stolen from the house but several hundred pounds in cash, an iPad, an iPod, two Apple laptop computers and some jewellery was also taken.
Northumberland Area Command Chief Superintendent Dianne Winship said: "At this stage there is no information to suggest any danger to the public.
"However, we recognise the theft could cause concern and I’d like to reassure people in the area we are doing everything possible to trace the firearm. I'd urge anyone with information to contact police as soon as possible."
Anyone with information can contact police on the 101 non-emergency number, or alternatively contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
