Rat poison alert in Haltwhistle

CHILDREN and pets could have been killed or seriously harmed by piles of rat poison left in a Haltwhistle back street, a pest control specialist has claimed.

Bernard Kivlehan was called to Lorne Street, at the town’s west end, by a resident concerned over a possible rodent infestation in the area.
But when he arrived, he found several piles of poison in a lane where children play.
Mr Kivlehan called the police and Northumberland County Council, which sent a cleansing team to remove two kilogrammes of highly toxic powder.
