Police name A69 death crash driver

POLICE have named a 37-year-old woman who died following a crash on the A69 near Haydon Bridge at the weekend.
Ann Marie Carruthers of Workington, Cumbria, was the only occupant of a silver Peugeot car which was found overturned half a mile west of Haydon Bridge at 5.50am on Saturday, April 20.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The road was closed more than four hours and diversions were put in place at Greenhead and Acomb.
Anyone who was driving on the A69 near Haydon Bridge between 11pm on Friday, April 19 and 5.50am on Saturday, April 20, is being asked to contact police as they may have vital information which could help establish the cause of the crash.

AT a public meeting in Wylam Institute it was decided to split the remaining money in the village's peace celebration fund between the village schools and a planned war memorial to the Fallen.
A brass plaque bearing the names of 19 former students who died in the Great War was to be erected in the Wylam Council Schools at a cost of £20 and £30 was to be donated to the war memorial fund.
