THE coffee morning in the community centre will start at 10am and is this week hosted by the Women’s Institute. All welcome.

ONLY a couple of weeks now until the by-pass is officially opened, and just to give villagers the chance to see the new road before the constant flow of traffic takes over, Highways Solutions is offering mini-bus tours of the road on Sunday. Short guided tours will take place from the compound on Cemetery Road between 10am and 2pm. Tea and coffee will also be served.

A TABLE top sale is to be held at St John of Beverley RC Church on Saturday, March 28, between 10am and 2pm, to raise money for the church hall refurbishment. There is a charge per table and refreshments are being served. It seems like the ideal opportunity to clear out some of your clutter. THE Derwent Singers will be making a return visit to the Methodist church on March 14, at 7pm. The ticket price includes supper and may be obtained from Patsy on (01434) 684482 or Kathleen on (01434) 688131.

THE London Philarmonic Skiffle Orchestra will be performing a variety of music, including Celtic, cajun, cossack and country blues, to name but a few, in the community centre tonight from 8pm. You will however need to take along your own refreshments. Please phone (01434) 684705 for more information or to purchase tickets.

TODAY is also Women’s World Day of Prayer. To show your support and to join in with prayer at the service, please go along to the Methodist church for 10am.
